In the same manner, as to the IEP, the students must be provided with a copy (also called an IEP/Parent & Professional Plan), from the school . Parents or guardian(s) of all disabled students should be provided with a copy of the parent's IEP when the student is moved to another program. The IEP is not a substitute for special education services. The purpose and function of an IEP is to develop the child into the best appropriate student, taking into account his or her specific needs, and to provide for the development of academic and social-emotional growth as a result. Special education services are given within a program in the district when the student is identified as having a disability, and the needs of the student are identified as having special needs. The IEP is a general planning tool that provides an educational plan that describes each student's education as it.
